I'd planned to write this entry last Sunday. And it would've probably sounded like the one below.
I went over to Jessica to watch Germany's first
World Cup match. It was a great evening,
4:0 against Australia, I was certain we would win this thing

When I drove back to the central station to change busses I had to wait a few minutes. I saw quite a lot of people (considering that it was about 11pm), all wearing our
national colors and singing and in front of a small shop a radio was blasting K'naan's "Wavin' Flag"

This may sound stupid but I was incredibly proud of my country

Yes, it's just soccer but it's uniting us!...It's uniting us so much that my bus got stuck because the streets were full of honking cars xD
Today (um...yesterday) was our second match...and we
lost !!

Against
Serbia !!

I've never planned to watch the whole match in the first place because I had my American Cultural Studies-class today, but it was so enthralling! (I guess nobody went to class today

) I mean, I don't even know where Serbia is! I'm not saying anything against them, they did a damn good job, especially their keeper was amazing, but I thought Germany was in a group with three "easy" teams

To be honest, I don't know much about soccer; while I was watching the match today at the "Taverna Academica" on campus, I felt pretty stupid because all the guys around me knew everything about the players and attacking-strategies and in how far a yellow card (oh yeah, the referee
loved them

) was justified

*sigh* I guess we just blame it on the referee and move on

We're kicking Ghana in the ass and proceed smoothly towards the final - we're in it to win it!
'54, '74, '90, 2010!
We
have to win. All the other teams I support are underdogs (although it looks like it's the World Cup of the Underdog. Brazil? Ha! England? Ha ha! France? *rofl*), they will never make it past the last 16!
So here's my
"As long as they are not playing against us I'm a fan"-list:

United States (hello, I'm an American Studies-minor!)

Japan (I love this country since I was 12)

Korea DPR (North Korea) (they may be a dictatorial regime with cheering Chinese, but how they handled Brazil was really good!)

Korea Republic (South Korea) (I love their flag. And I love Asian guys. Does that sound racist?)

Netherlands (because it drives my dad crazy *lol* And we're neighbors!)
