I was kind of lethargic last semester, except for the last one and a half months were it was studying for finals and writing my paper about Reclam 24/7 - I was so stressed out, I could totally understand why Japan has the highest suicide-rate in the world... That's why I've tried to balance it out a little this semester. My presentations are earlier (on Monday I will tell my "The Materiality of the Book"-class how amazing digital printing is...) and there's just one exam I really have to study for. And to prevent the lethargy from coming back I've started to work on some web-projects I had planned for ages ← big procrastinator. For example, I'm cleaning up my fanlisting-collective and I've applied for Irma (W.i.t.c.h.) and Caffeine-free Diet Coke (Freunde bleiben by Revolverheld is still up for adoption!). For the former I've cut two PNGs (there's a shocking lack of HQ-W.i.t.c.h. pics out there!), which you can finde here

I've also added a ranking to the books I've read so far in 2010 (not much, I admit it!) and because I have nothing interesting to write about anymore I will tell you my opinions about them:

CARROLL, LEWIS - ALICE IN WONDERLAND
Read in: English
I've read it because I wanted to be prepared before seeing the movie (which wasn't that good and the 3D-version was a waste of money ) and I think it's okay. I like the Alice-style and all those merchandise and art related to it more than the actual story, but I'm planning to read Through the Looking-Glass too. There's also a book about the life of the real Alice I'm keen on reading and I guess it's always good to drop an Alice-reference here and there

FREY, JANA - SCHÖN
Read in: German
Jana Frey is famous for writing books about every serious problem under the sun (anorexia, pregnancy, being a Jehovah's Witness, doing drugs, being in jail etc. etc.) that a teenager can have. Many of them are based on a true story but this one doesn't and it shines through a little. Helena, the protagonist with a snub nose and an "ass-like" chin, wants plastic surgery because she can't stand her reflection anymore. I could really feel how depressive she is and it made me very happy that God just gave me a round face (so I look always fat in photos ) and slightly protruding ears (other people have bad-hair-days, I have bad-jug-ear-days ). But she's popular, she doesn't get bullied in school, has lots of friends and two guys who are more or less in love with her - and that's just unrealistic. I've been to a relatively liberal high school, but you couldn't walk through it with such a face and not been called names or something of that sort Teenagers are cruel! I don't want to give away the end but let's just say I didn't get what I had expected

HARTL, BARBARA - DREI GROSSE SCHRIFTSTELLERINNEN
Read in: German
Three short biographies of the goddesses of children's literature: Cornalia Funke, J. K. Rowling and Enid Blyton. Very interesting, especially for me who I am still somehow want to be a writer And concerning Enid Blyton, this read was very disillusioning. Just a few months ago I've read her autobiography The Story of my Life where she writes about her perfect childhood, her perfect marriage, her perfect family etc. and know I find out that 80% of this was a lie The only perfect thing in her life was her career, she was a great businesswoman but a terrible mother and human in general. This knowledge won't stop me from re-reading The Twins at St. Clare's but I'll see everything in a different light...

KOLLOCH, BRIGITTE AND ZÖLLER, ELISABETH - HUNGER, HUNGER
Read in: German
How the idea for this book was born: "Hey, let's write a serious book for teens! What are teens dealing with? Man, that's such a long time ago...I've got it! Eating disorders! Everybody more or less has one, so the book will definitely sell! " - "Great idea! But anorexia got so mainstream, why don't we write about bulimia? It can't be that difficult, you eat, you vomit, you feel bad and end up in rehab  Oh and let's write in diary-style; that seems more real and maybe people think we actually know something about the topic! Haha!" - "But we can't just write about eating and vomiting, isn't there more behind such an illness?" - "Yeah, you're right, some soul-stuff...maybe we could just add some poems? Aren't depressed teenagers writing poetry all the time?"
Do I have to say more?

TOKIO, MARNELLE - MORE THAN YOU CAN CHEW
Read in: German
It happened multiple times that I got to bed way too late because of this book! First I have to say that I love books about eating disorders. I know that's weird, but other people enjoy reading about murderers who are killing half of Sweden's population! And they use way less sarcasm than Marty does, an anorexic-bulimic who was put into Camp Eat-a-Lot and analyzes the sick world around and within her. It's not your typical "I'm fat but I want to look like those photoshopped supermodels so I guess I just stop eating"-story (I've read a lot of them), Marty is ill because of different reasons. And finding out what they are is what she's pursuing in this book. I strongly recommend it to everyone who's interested in eating disorders, because it starts where most of the other books end (hint for authors like Mrs. Kolloch and Mrs. Zöller: Just because you put someone into rehab doesn't mean (s)he'll live happily ever after...)

Man, I've just put my new yellow Maybelline nail-polish on and skipped the base coat...I look like I've got the yellow fever...

Summer-term started about a week ago and I guess this term will be better than the last one. This time I attend eight courses instead of nine and have Wednesdays off  But more important is the fact that I have Cultural Studies I now, which is why I'm studying American Studies. It's about politics and history in the early days of the States (although I prefer the 20th&21st century), there will definitely be a lot of studying for the final exam, but I hope it'll be fun
In Book Science I've got into the courses of Prof. Füssel and Prof. Bläsi which are both exactly how I've always imagined lecturers: totally dedicaded to and passionate about their subjects, ignoring everything else and a love for teaching

I've also seen a few movies lately, one of them was Kick-Ass, my first sneak preview! I would've never watched it on purpose, so I was really surprised cause it was so damn cool!! It was the best that could've happened! Now I'm addicted to sneak-previews (and they are cheaper than regular movie-tickets, which cost half a fortune here in Mainz!).
Today I went seeing Remember me which was kind of...I don't know It is very grown-up, Robert Pattinson shows that he is much more than Edward (by the way, I hate the Twilight-book! I haven't finished it yet, but I have never before read a story that was so poorly written!  From now on, it's only the movies for me!), but the end was totally out of context! It also occured to me that the film had no story at all!
I really recommend "Kick-Ass" (especially if you're on the nerdy-side), but you're not missing anything if you don't see "Remember me"

And because college starts slowly and there isn't much work yet, I've found time to make some new icons for you guys - enjoy

 Weather:

Happy Easter everybody  What did you get? My Easter booty was smaller than usual cause my aunt didn't visit us this year and she always brings tons of chocolate with her! But I guess it's better this way cause I've definitely eaten way too much chocolate during the last few days, it was kind of an addiction Have you tried Milka's "Choc'n'Choc"? I can eat one of these 200g-bars at one bite!

That KitKat-bunny is already half eaten, it doesn't taste that good. But what I totally recommend are "Pasteteneier" from Milka. They're sold only around Easter-time and I always store up on them so I can eat them all year round! I hope I'll get some more at the post-Easter sales. You know when after the holidays (Easter and Christmas) all the candy is 50% off? At that time I'm like Augustus Gloop in Willy Wonka's chocolate factory...

"Spring Break" will be over next Monday and I'll go back to Mainz on Friday. So what have I done with my five weeks of free-time? Sitting at the PC revamping my TCG-post and some of my fanlistings (two of them are up for adoption!) and creating a new one for Lindsay Lohan's second album A little more personal (Raw).

Her Innocence - Lindsay Lohan - A little more personal - Fanlisting

I'm such a nerd ...but I really love webdesigning  I think about doing this for a living but I know I've got a looong way to go to even consider this  I'll read some books about PHP and XML this semester (it looks like I haven't got much to do since I couldn't get into some courses ) and maybe attending some extracurricular-courses on this topics next semester. I don't know what to do with my life, so that's at least something I can focus on.
And I couldn't resist to buy the new Pokémon-edition, SoulSilver  Everyone at MissingNo went crazy when they came out so I HAD to buy it. Really, I couldn't escape! Some supernatural power made me buy it!...Looks like I'll walk around campus with a Pokéwalker this semester

Says the woman with a Hello Kitty-waffle iron
Song: Taylor Swift - You belong with me
 CD: ---
Book: Lewis Carroll - Alice in Wonderland
            Stephenie Meyer - Twilight [German]
 Manga: Daisuki 10/10
 DVD: Gilmore Girls Season 2
 Food: Trident Tropical Twist
 Weather:

Yep, I've started reading Twilight. After spending a semester discussing the phenomena in class I think it's time to actually read the book I've seen both movies, the first one twice, and I think they're okay. That hype is absolutely crazy, I feel really sorry for Robert Pattinson, I guess that guy can't leave the house anymore without being chased by some crazy girls who want to be bitten by him  (no offense, Twilight-fans! I know from my experience that just a few lunatics destroy the reputation of all fans ). I hope the cast won't end up being "the guys from Twilight" for the rest of their lives. The way the Harry Potter-crew handled it seems quite successful!
Has anyone seen "Remember me" yet? I saw the trailer on TV today, it sounds pretty interesting  Is it worth the money?

I've already overrun my budget for the semester-break  To avoid spending all my college-money my family saved for me at once I've limited myself to 300 Euros when I'm at Mainz (i.e. when I have to pay for everything myself) and 50 Euros when I'm at home. When I come above that limit I have to pay the remaining difference from the money I've saved from birthdays and work. It works pretty well, I've stopped spending money on unnecessary stuff but I still have my guilty pleasures here and there, one of them is Hello Kitty
I love love love Hello Kitty (all Sanrio-characters to be exact)!  I can't tell you why, cause in fact it's just a cat without a mouth (so everybody can read his own emotions into her, at least that's what I've read somewhere ). I know the stuff is ridiculously overpriced, so when I find a HK-surprise bag I'm in heaven! From time to time the department stores sort out the items that won't sell, put them into big transparent plastic bags and sell them for 20 Euros (!)  And that's really a bargain, cause the one I've bought on Monday contained all this:

Well, I wouldn't have bought most of that stuff at regular price, but just the Chococat-jewelry box is totally worth the money! The blue plastic cutlery is also very cool (but doesn't fit into my apartment's color-scheme) and the broches and the plastic folders and the pens and...My dad says I'm too old for this - nonsense!

And concerning the website: I've added a bunch of fonts for you to download, grab them here
